Your job

At Placements, you will make our users happy (*) by automating and improving the tedious parts of their job. You'll touch all facets of our product as we build out the next iteration of our core webapp and integration platform. You'll design features along with our founder and the rest of our dev team, and you'll be responsible for their development through to production. You'll enjoy significant ownership of and responsibility for what you work on, every day. And you'll have a life. We respect your time and rarely work outside of normal business hours.

Responsibilities:

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a backend engineer to be responsible for working the full lifecycle (design, build, document, unit/functional/load test, and deploy) of backend APIs and infrastructure needed to scale our platform. Our perfect candidate is either a really experienced SDE or Senior Dev looking to grow their career and take ownership of a complex set of internal/external services, datasets, and potentially, lab experiments.

Ideally, you should have some experience in the digital ad world and are located near Seattle, WA or New York City, NY.

Requirements

Would Like:

  • Knowledge of Rails 3.1+, AngularJS, Redis, Memcache, ElasticSearch
  • Computer Science, Math, Stats, or Engineering Degree

Must-Have:

  • 2-4 Years Experience with developing production-grade code
  • Demonstrated experience of scaling a product from beta to full-blown production
  • PostgresSQL, MySQL
  • Heroku, AWS, Hadoop/EMR, Redshift
  • Ruby and at least one additional OO language
  • Experience with RESTful API design using JSON
  • Some knowledge of DevOps
